The Maze is a novel by the incredibly talented Nelson DeMille, published in 2004. DeMille is one of my all time favourite authors! And What a life he has had! The next time I get to the States I want to time it for one of his book signings!!!! The story takes place in the present day and follows John Corey, a former New York City police detective and current special agent with the Federal Anti-Terrorist Task Force. Corey is assigned to investigate the murder of a wealthy businessman, who was killed while on a hunting trip in the wilderness of the Adirondacks.

As Corey delves deeper into the case, he discovers that the murder may be connected to a larger conspiracy involving a secret government program known as the “Maze.” The Maze is a top-secret project that was created during the Cold War to develop a weapon of mass destruction. The project was abandoned after the fall of the Soviet Union, but it appears that someone has reactivated it and is using it for their own nefarious purposes.

Corey’s investigation leads him to a remote research facility in the Adirondacks, where he discovers that the Maze is still active and that the scientists working on the project are being held against their will. Nelson DeMille is a bestselling American author of thriller and suspense novels. He was born on August 23, 1943, in New York City and grew up in Long Island. He attended Hofstra University, where he studied political science and history. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a First Lieutenant in Vietnam. After his discharge, he returned to Hofstra and earned a master’s degree in creative writing.

DeMille began his writing career as a copywriter for an advertising agency in New York City.
